DREAM LABOR PRESS

Dream Labor Press is a collective self-publishing project founded by a group of Chinese female graphic designer-authors who are primarily based in the United States. Our work focuses on storytelling and fiction-making in the liminal space between places and identities.

By means of zines, artist books and other small publications, we play with objects, symbols and memories. We endeavor to communicate layered narratives that resonate with different walks of audiences and to push the boundaries of design.

BILINGUAL DESIGNER MANIFESTO

Lihao Zhu
2022

4.25 x 5.5 inch (unfolded to 11 x 17 inch)
Single-sheet zine, risograph printing
A manifesto declares the challenges and responsibilities of Mandarin-English bilingual designers.

Written in Simplified Chinese and English, different versions of the manifesto are printed on tabloid-size and transparent posters and layered together to allow for a bilingual reading experience. On the other side of the poster, a one-page zine further explains the objective of the manifesto. The duotone zine is RISO-printed in teal and bubblegum pink.
